Celebrate Easter at St Mark's
We're looking forward to our Easter journey at St Mark's this year. We'll begin on Palm Sunday with our Procession of the Palms, reflect on Jesus' cross on Good Friday, and finish on Easter Sunday with our special services to celebrate Jesus' resurrection.
On Good Friday, we have our Messy Church for children with craft, activities and food.
Palm Sunday 29th March
10.00am Procession of Palms with Holy Communion
- Beginning with our procession around the church where we will wave palm branches. Our St Mark's Rocks Group for children is meeting. The service lasts around 1 hour 15 minutes.
Mon 30th & Tues 31st March and Weds 1st April
8.00pm Reflective Prayer in the Upper Room
- Short services of prayer in the Upper Room in the Church Centre.
Maundy Thursday 2nd April
7.30pm Holy Communion with Footwashing
- Communion service with washing of feet (optional!), a remembrance of Jesus' Last Supper, and the atmospheric stripping of the altar.
Good Friday 3rd April
10.00am Messy Church: Crafts, activities and fun for children until 11.30am.
2.00pm The Way of the Cross. A reflective service lasting an hour as walk with Jesus to his cross.
7.30pm Tenebrae: A Service of Shadows. As we remember Jesus' death in music and readings, we gradually diminish the light of the candles and finish the service in near darkness. (Around an hour)
Easter Sunday 5th April
8.00am Traditional Said Holy Communion: (A service lasting around 45 minutes)
10.00am All Age Easter Communion: Our special celebration service with the lighting of the new Easter candle from the bonfire (weather permitting), an Easter egg hunt and Easter music by our choir. (Around an hour and 15 minutes)
6.00pm Hymns, Music & Readings For Easter Day: A service led by our choir, lasting around an hour with special music and readings as we continue to celebrate Easter Day.
