Children & Young People

At St Mark’s, we believe children and young people are a vital part of our church family. From toddlers to teens, we offer spaces to explore faith, ask big questions, and build lasting friendships.

St Mark's Rocks

At St Marks’s Church we want to ‘tell the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders he has done’, Psalm 78:4.

St Mark’s Rocks is the new name for Junior church. We use a mix of stories, crafts, games, and songs to tell children the glorious deeds of the Lord; nurture their spirituality; help them know the reality of God’s love for them; inspire them to come to Jesus, the living stone; and have lots of fun together! Each child is given a rock to decorate and write their name on which is kept in a heart-shaped box to remind them that God knows them by name, that they are loved by God, and they are kept close to his heart.

We meet during the 10am service on most Sunday mornings in term-time, except for the second Sunday of the month when we have an All-age service. Children leave church with the leader of their group during the first hymn and return in time for Holy Communion with their parents.

St Mark’s Rocks is open for all children, whether regulars at St Mark’s or visitors, from age 3 to the end of Year 6. If you plan to bring children on a more regular basis, we have a form for you to complete to give us your contact details and relevant information about your child(ren).

Teen Talk

Are a  group for teenagers to talk about things more personal or relevant to us and what relation they have with Christianity

How our sessions work:

We light a candle and say our prayer (written by us), and then help ourselves to food and drink. We then talk about something that has interested us that week, perhaps in the news, perhaps in our lives, and how that relates to our faith. We might watch a clip from a film, or read something from a newspaper or book. We might use our bibles as we talk about things.

Why you should come along:

We are an informal group where we can be open without fear of judgement as there is no wrong or right answers. Instead of teachers we have leaders who are there to assist conversation and happily join in. Our leaders and members are all equal. Another reason you should come along is because we have cake!

Some topics we have covered:

Angels

Heaven and Hell in the media and in the bible

Sources of comfort

Music and Consumerism

Who's it for?

Anyone aged between 10 and 18 who’d like to come.
