St Mark’s relies on many people, mostly volunteers, to organise and manage our busy parish life. Here are some of those you might meet.

The Clergy

Rev Tim <td>Cockell

Rev’d Tim Cockell

Email :

As Rector, Tim has overall responsibility for St Mark’s church.

Tim grew up in Reading and had a career in engineering before becoming a priest. He trained for ordination at Queen’s College, Birmingham, where he met his wife Nell, who is also ordained. Tim was curate in Bracknell and a vicar in the Rugby Team Ministry before the family came to St Mark’s in 2004.

Tim’s hobbies include computing, reading Terry Pratchett and cooking a mean curry.

Jonathan Smith

Jonathan was born in Nigeria but grew up in Derbyshire. He’s lived in Bradford, London and Leamington Spa before moving to Bilton in Rugby with his wife Vicky and young family.

In his spare time, he enjoys the Warwickshire countryside, reading, thought provoking TV and film, taking part in a variety of sports and for pure escapism listening to either Liverpool football or England rugby radio commentaries.

An essential piece of the St Mark’s puzzle, churchwardens are responsible for many of the practical aspects of running the church, from overseeing the upkeep of the building to ensuring our Sunday services run smoothly.

If you have a practical question about the church or churchyard, you can contact the churchwardens at the following email address:
