School Links

St Mark’s church is privileged to have strong, long-standing relationships with many schools in the area.

Members of the clergy team are regularly involved in taking assemblies, visiting each primary school in the parish roughly once every half term:

Bilton Junior School - As Foundation Governor St Mark's has a particularly strong relationship with Bilton Church of England Junior School, with an important role to play in supporting and maintaining the school and many opportunities to work together.

St Mark's is also a Foundation Governor for Harris Church of England Academy, a specialist Sports College, and members of our church are actively involved in other local schools too, either as governors or in other roles.

School Visits

Our most exciting recent development, however, has been the formation of a dedicated schools team, inviting classes from local primary schools to visit our church as part of their Religious Education curriculum.

Volunteers are experienced in working with young people, DBS checked, and keen to help children learn through a variety of different topics:

• Music at church including a demonstration of the organ

• Stories in stained glass

• Finding out about ceremonial robes including trying them on

• Symbols in the church such as candles and crosses

• Baptism including a demonstration of the baptism ceremony

• The graveyard, war memorial and garden of remembrance

The Schools team are also happy to discuss visits with the school to plan a visit tailored to the individual school curriculum based on the Warwickshire Agreed Syllabus.

Our intention is to enable children in local schools to learn about St Mark's church and to find out about the Christian faith through a fun and interesting visit. To find out more about St Mark’s link with local schools please contact the Parish Office.
